Boston Fashion Expose Explodes off the Catwalk at the World Trade Center, October 2, 2010 as the finale to

Boston Fashion Week

Haitian-born Prajje Jean Baptiste launches Spring line; Project Runway Fan Favorite Korto Momolu,  returns with her latest designs

Prajje Jean-Baptiste, founder of Boston Fashion Expose, has created a collaborative fashion event featuring a collection of noteworthy designers that has become a key focal point of Boston Fashion Week since 2008.  This year’s  event will be held at the World Trade Center Harborview Ballroom, with the addition of an arcade of fashion exhibitors and pop-up stores.

“We have decided to name this year’s event  The Rise of Fashion,” said Jean-Baptiste.

“In a city teeming with creative talent, Fashion Expose is an event that allows designers to come together and celebrate their collections in a unique and dynamic venue.”

While Fashion Expose is committed to showcasing up-and-coming local designers and established national and international fashion brands, the centerpiece of the October 2 show will be the launch of Prajje 1983, and the Spring  line, Payizan.  It is a collection inspired and drawn from the majestic and artistic cultural elements of his native home Haiti.  Prajje’s Payizan asks the viewer to look beyond the everyday life and struggle of the country’s farmers to be inspired by the colorful and spirited soulfulness of their culture.  Despite Prajje’s love for his adopted city Boston, he still feels the pull of his homeland which is evident in this exquisite collection.  A Payisan accessories line will accompany the couture and ready-to-wear pieces in the show.

This year’s participants include a diverse group with talent hailing from South Africa, Somalia (via New York),  London, and Boston.  Korto Momolu returns to Fashion Expose and will show alongside South African designer David Tlale who presented his collections at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Spring 2010; and Boston’s own Sara Marhamo; and Mataano, the famous Somalian twins n featured on Oprah.   Fashion Expose has elevated the caliber of its runway presentation by bringing elite models including New York Fashion Week darling Ataui Deng, as well as Aminat Ayinde and Bianca Golden of America’s Next Top Model fame.

Tickets for Fashion Expose are $25.00 and available in advance at www.bostonfashionexpose.com.

About Fashion Exposé

Our Vision and Our Mission

We envision a community in which every individual can express him or herself through the performing arts. Our mission is to provide a platform for local talented designers, to showcase their unique art through Fashion while providing Boston with a one of a kind fashion event during Boston Fashion Week. Not only do these efforts support our love for fashion but they also provide opportunities for philanthropic growth as much of the proceeds of our events are donated to charity.

Prajjé Couture

Prajjé Couture is led by one of Boston’s finest Fashion Designers and show producers. We are diverse and non-discriminatory, inviting people from a broad spectrum of social, ethnic, religious and economic backgrounds to work together. We extend and reach out to all individuals with talent, whether established or not. Based on feedback from our fans, our shows are rated as some of the most successful and best runway events in the Boston area. Since 2006 we have become an important element to the city’s fashion scene. Our most recent production “The Final Chapter of Boston Fashion Week” was a major success and we are even more ambitious this year. Together with Prajjé Jean-Baptiste Productions and a carefully assembled team, the Fashion Expose committee will produce an event that will leave a mark on the Boston’s fashion industry. This year we will showcase local rising-star designers and famed ready-to-wear brands, both national and international. Additionally, we have added to the schedule an exotic and avant-garde hair show. As a closing statement, an invitation only red carpet ball is scheduled to close out the three-day extravaganza.
